Gwendolyn White is the Governor’s appointee to the PA Humanities and is serving as Chair. Gwendolyn has her Six Sigma Green Belt certification and Implementation & Lean Operations Champion Training. Her many honors include the Louis J. Tullio Community Service Award from the Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership and the Women Making History Award from the Mercy Center for Women. Gwendolyn received the Tocqueville Award for her longstanding and diverse commitment to the Erie and greater community. Gwendolyn was awarded the Martin Luther King Community Service Award and recently The Woman of Influence Award from the Bayfront NATO Inc./MLK Center. She actively serves on the Humanities and Social Sciences Advisory Board for PennState Behrend College. She is well respected and an influencer. She is a mentor and a positive role model for many. She was honored with Community Matters Humanitarian Award. In 2021, Gwendolyn was awarded the Applause Award from the Erie Arts and Culture for her long history of championing the arts and humanities across the state. She’s a docent and a board member at the Erie County Historical Society/Hagen History Center. Gwendolyn is a life learner, recently completing the Genealogical Principles course from Boston University. She’s a member of the American Ancestors, Indiana African American Genealogy Group, The Filson Historical Society, African American Genealogical Group of KY (AAGGKY), National Genealogical Society (NGS), Afro-American Historical & Genealogical Society (AAHGS) and Erie Society for Genealogical Research. She is a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church where she has served as church treasurer and trustee. She is proud of her son, DeMoyne and her grandchildren, Delise, Riann, and Kaleb. Gwendolyn enjoys life, people, reading, traveling, photography, and genealogy. Gwendolyn diligently works with others, leading with an equity lens, creating space and a sense of belonging for all
